V1 Update very soon?!?!

It's been a while since the last devlog, huh... This weird developer with a fox on his profile image surely must have abandoned ship and just left Project V here in all its unfinished glory... Despite being a top 3 in Fun category, it is now doomed to be buried and forgotten... A jam version which would quickly turn to amber as millions of years pass, and our ancestors would stare in disbelief how such crude piece of media could ever be made and if people who lived millions of years ago were all like that...

Well, NO!

Project V1 update IS coming! And in fact, it'll be coming in June! I will not make an exact release date just yet as plans tend to change and I would like the new version to be as bug-free as possible. But one of those days will be my birthday and I kinda want to make sure I can just chill and not worry about releasing the game on that day, so gotta keep working both hard AND smart now!

Here's what's already done:

  • 2 new secret bosses! I'm not telling how to find them because the conditions are also secret, dummy
  • 1 new TLB - the true boss which can only be challenged if you master the Vampire Laser!
  • Lots of adjustments to normal enemies which should make both normal play and score attack more fun!
  • 2 new shot types! Depending on situation, switch freely between a powerful Focus Shot and the wide Spread Shot!
  • Focus (ship slowdown) button!!!! Probably one of the most requested features which wasn't an engine feature back in April, but it is now!
  • SMALLER SHIP HITBOX!!11!!!1!! Probably the single BIGGEST complaint I've received on the game is how big the hitbox is, so here you go, all fixed now! Don't think it makes the game too easy though - to compensate, I've adjusted many enemies to be more aggressive and shoot more bullets (and to be more fun - since you can cancel those bullets into items!)
  • Lots of visual upgrades! Notably the fonts used in-game - now the dialogues use the same font as Project V logo. Also fixed st2 and st4 ugly background... and to do that I just had to rotate the sprite... sigh
  • Lots of bugs squashed!
  • Lots of bugs probably introduced! That's just how game dev goes!
  • Some funny easter eggs!
  • Maybe a little bit of mystery to uncover?
  • Anyways this bullet list is getting too long
  • So I'll stop here
  • Soon, you'll be able to play the new version and see all changes for yourself!

Oh and one more thing, if you'd like to follow development of Project V and future Winged Fox games more closely, please consider following me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AlsameSuzaku - I've only just started using it today and there's only 1 tweet so far, but I'll try to post something interesting and/or funny every once in a while.

You can also subscribe to me on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsrai0SjNHslVvfnmDll7Fg - aside from Project V I also upload vids on other challenging games, mostly shmup clears but also bullet hells in general, so if you like fun shmups/bullet hells then be sure to sub!

And last but not least, if you enjoyed the game's music and character art, be sure to check out more stuff from the persons who created them:

Thank you for playing Project V, and I hope you will have even more fun when V1 hits!
