Top 3 in Fun! What's Next?

Yep, you heard it right!

Project V scored #3 in the "Fun" category of Bullet Hell Jam!

I'm very pleased, considering that this was definitely the category I focused on while working on the gameplay. Thank you to everyone who checked our game out during that time!

Ok that's very cool Mr. #3 in Fun Developer, but what Ar u going to do now that the Jam is over?

Regarding Project V - when the engine gets the features I need, I plan to update the game a few times to fix some issues and add content which couldn't make it in due to time constraints. Team Vamp is currently disbanded so there won't be any new characters or music introduced, but I'll work on some gameplay changes such as:

  • Improved player and bullet hitboxes;
  • Adding a few extra enemy waves in Stage 1 and 2;
  • Background improvements;
  • Making sure that the final attack of the Stage 4 boss is beatable without getting hit, while still being challenging. The rest of the game is actually completely beatable this way, but I want to make sure that it's 100% beatable so that every time I hear "ok this is undodgeable" I can just reply "skill issue" instead of my usual text walls
  • Oh and by the way - you're not exactly supposed to beat the game no-hit. Even though you can. You've got 100 hp for a reason, why not use it to get some meaty high scores instead? There are some funny things you can do with it...

Of course, I may also add some more interesting stuff, or some secrets... But pretend you didn't hear that from me.

Actually, Project V sucks! Mr. Cute Fox Developer, when Ar u gonna make a new game that won't suck?

Patience, young grasshopper.

Project V was the very first in everything for me - first time making a public game, first time managing a team, first time participating in a Jam... Thanks to it, I now have an overview of my own abilities - my strong and weak points, and vision for the direction I want to take in the future projects. This may mean that the next few projects will have do be done on my own, without any teammates or collaborators, so it may take some time.

At some point, I want to learn other software or programming languages, so that I can experiment with other game types and genres, because let's be real - shmups are one of the most underrated and least discoverable game genres there are. Alternatively, I can always go crazy and join another Jam. There are lots of options, and I hope to share more on what I'm working on as time goes by, so stay tuned!

Also, I'm not a fox. But some people will still call me one anyway.
